"sirens", hop along, queen ansleis

this blog is a crude digital method of collecting and archiving my simple audio and visual pleasures. it started with an idea to have just a place to post my favorite songs new and old. everything needs a place. so to start i'd like to begin with something i heard when i was 18.

i had just moved to baltimore after a long stint in san francisco and a very short bit in pennsylvania; being a piece of shit party girl trying to maintain sanity with veganism, folk music while deluding myself with hard hard drugs. i began the process of cleaning up after a month of school. i reached out to art that was local, relatable and accessible.

i listened to this song, this album on repeat. frannie was my neighbor, my schoolmate and an inspiration.i was blown away when the old apartment resident handed me this album. it was recorded in my apartment just the year before with maybe a computer and a mic. for a first album, it's coherent and balanced. her folksy vocals, grade-school instrumentals and gritty recordings adds to the emotionally raw and whimsical story telling. plus her songs are in my vocal range which is such a plus. i'm still waiting for more. where are you frannie?!
